Eatbase Main Screen
The Eatbase main screen is the central point of operation of the software.
From here you can make entries in your food, activity, and weight diaries, and get a quick overview of your progress to date.

Note. You must be logged in to view or access the diaries.

The currently logged in user is shown in the window caption bar.

Tool Bar

The toolbar gives quick access to the main features.  Click on a button for more information.

Calendar

The calendar sets the diary date and defaults to today.  When you change the date, the diaries for that date will be automatically loaded.

Calories or Kilojoules

Eatbase will display calories or kilojoules depending on what was selected when the user was set up.  The units can be changed for the current session by selecting the Diary > Show Calories menu option.  Calories will be used when this option is checked.  Eatbase will re-draw the screen when you change the setting.

Food Diary

The food diary tab displays all the foods that have been eaten on the selected day, their macro-nutrient levels, and the running totals.

To add an entry to the food diary, click the Food button on the tool button or press the Insert key on your keyboard, to open the Food Diary Entry screen.

Existing entries can be modified or removed by selecting the entry and selecting the appropriate option from the Diary > Food menu, or right-clicking and choosing from the pop-up menu.  There are also keyboard short-cuts.

You can also modify the items that are displayed in the food diary by right-clicking the diary and selecting items on the View menu, as shown opposite.

The food diary columns can be moved around into any order according to preference.  Simply click on a column heading and drag it (while holding down the left mouse button) to the desired position.  Eatbase will remember your column preferences each time you log on.

(Register users only)
The food diary can be printed by selecting the Diary > Food > Print menu option, or from the right-click menu.

Activity Diary

The activity diary tab displays your activities on the selected day.

To add an entry to the activity diary, click the Activity button on the toolbar or press Ctrl-A on your keyboard, to open the Activity Diary Entry screen.

Existing entries can be modified or removed by selecting the entry and then selecting required option from the Diary > Activity menu, or right-clicking and choosing from the pop-up menu.  There are also keyboard short-cuts.

You do not need to account for every minute in the day.  For time you haven't accounted for, Eatbase will use your Resting Metabolic Rate.

You do not need to make any entries in the Activity Diary.  If you don't, Eatbase will use your Estimated Energy Requirement as the energy burnt for the day.

(Register users only)
The activity diary can be printed by selecting the Diary > Activity > Print menu option, or from the right-click menu.

Diary Analyser

The diary analyser tab displays an analysis of the day's food intake and energy usage.  Press the Analyse button to start.

(Registered users only)
When an analysis has been run, click the Report button to display the results in a printable report and chart form.

See Diary Analysis for more information.

History Graph

The history graph displays an overview of the last 30 days.  The left-hand scale shows kilojoules or calories for the energy intake (red) and burnt (green) chart lines, while the right-side scale shows weight for the weight chart line (blue).  The bottom line is the day of the month, with the right-most value being today.

(Registered users only)
There are more charts available via the User > Graphs menu option.

Status Bar

The status bar at the bottom of the screen displays the current weight and BMI of the currently logged in user, as well as the presence of an internet connection.  Click on the image for more information.
